Adidas launched the BOOST technology which shocked the sports industry on 2014. And the new technology make Adidas to be on higher level on sneakers’ field. And then it use Boost technology to remodel many classic sneakers, such as TMAC Millennium, Adidas Stand Smith, Adidas Superstar Boost etc., which get high evaluating scores in the sneaker field. Nearly half of Adidas’s market shares is due to Boost technology.
The Ultra Boost series sneakers with Boost insole which were launched in 2015 have even been hailed as “The strongest technology sneaker”. Now Ultra Boost series comes to be the fifth generation. Different with the previous 4 generations, the fifth generation UB is named Ultra Boost 19. This time, Ultra Boost series is not only changing the naming way, but also changing the appearance and design philosophy. As the fans of Boost technology, today I want to talk about Ultra Boost 19.
The classic Ultra Boost yellow-white shoebox has been the standard configuration of Boost sneakers.
About size, the Adidas Ultra Boost 19 is standard size. I still choose EUR43 (273mm inner length).
The unit weight of EUR43 is 317g & 318g, it’s light for running shoes.
The knitted shoe head of Ultra Boost 19 comparing with NIKE Lunar Epic Low Flyknit 2, the NIKE Lunar Epic Low Flyknit 2 has big air holes, and the ventilation of Adidas Ultra Boost is moderated. I think that Adidas Ultra Boost 19 hasn’t put the breathability to be the main selling point. It also shows that Adidas is aimed to make the UB series sneakers to satisfy the running request of four seasons.
The vamp of Adidas Ultra Boost 19 use the new Primeknit 360 technology. It uses different knitted methods on different area to make the shoe head, vamp and shoe tongue to become a whole like socks.
The vamp has good elasticity and fitting sense. It looks like big mesh holes on the shoe head, but it’s not actually, it just uses the illusion of dot matrix color blending. I didn’t feel cold in 3 degree centigrade outdoor. It has heat retention property. But it would be stuffy in Summer.
The two pieces of TPU in insole is very soft. The breathable mesh texture design is actually mainly for decoration.
Adidas Ultra Boost 19 shoe-pad uses the light EVA material, and it has chorionic design on the shoe-pad. The thin shoe-pad is very suitable for this thickened BOOST. As it increases about 20% of the Boost material. It has big visual impact.
The heelpiece height is about 29mm, Forefoot height is about 19mm.
The UB heel tendon part design is used till now. The hot sale of UB series sneakers also show that this classic design is accepted in the market.
Comparing with NIKE Air Pegasus 35, Adidas UltraBOOST 19 adds the strip sponge in the inside of heelpiece to increase the comfort level.
The outsole is the familiar hollow out rubber outsole. It adds more stable Torsion Spring system in the insole to keep the stability. It uses Continental rubber on the outsole. The wear-resisting property should be good. But it’s hollowed-out outsole. The wear-resisting property can’t be assured now.
General Comment：8.9 scores
After running in the street and highway:
Advantage: The cushion and resilience is the top level. Basic on the full-length of BOOST on the insole, it increase about 20% Boost material. The real effect is obvious. When jogging, the sole feedback of BOOST is good. When accelerative running, the resilient feedback and drive-force is obviously. The vamp uses new Primeknit 360 technology. The integrated vamp is very comfortable, and it covers the feet well.
The shoelaces are easier to be loosed when long-term running. It’s ok for short distance jogging.
The thickened full-length Boost insole and new Primeknit 360 knitted technology make Ultra Boost 19 has a great improvement basing on previous UB series sneakers. Moreover, it has 3D Heel Frame around the heelpiece, Torsion Spring anti-torsion system, Stretchweb gridding outsole and wear-resisting Continental rubber. There is no shortage on this pair of shoes. But the insole is too high due to the thickened Boost, we suggest you to wear it when jogging, but it’s not suitable for long-distance running or high-intensity training.
